Indoor Navigation Tool for People with Visual Impairment
Overview
Vision
People with visual impairment usually encounter some form of difficulty and frustration while navigating indoor environments. Currently, there is a limited market on technologies used to help people with visual impairment navigate indoors and most do not solve the key pain points they experience while navigating. Designed to address the issues people with visual impairment face in their navigation process, NavIndor is an app that integrates WiFi localization technologies and Beacon systems to assist people with visual impairment navigate indoors independently.
Context
This project was completed over the course of ten weeks for the undergraduate course HCDE 318: Introduction to User-Centered Design in Spring 2018. We selected our user group to be people with visual impairment to challenge ourselves practice inclusive design. To understand more about the needs and concerns of our users, we set out to research, design, and prototype a solution to address their most eminent desire.
